Brother meets changing field printing needs with new mobile A4 thermal printer series

Brother has launched the PJ-800 series - a next generation of mobile A4 printers. The new line, an overhaul of the PJ-700 series, was developed to match changing customer needs in the field.

The PJ-800 series keeps the same compact design of its predecessors making it suitable for users in markets such as field sales and service, delivery and logistics, and emergency services. Improved connectivity and faster print speeds are ideal for busy mobile workers, such as emergency services or field sales.

PJ-800 series is made up of five models – PJ-822, PJ-823, PJ-862, PJ-863, and PJ-883 – which support different resolutions and interfaces. Depending on customer preferences, the printers can be connected by USB, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Henning Elkjær, Sales Director, Denmark & Norway at Brother Nordic A/S, said: “While developing the new PJ-800 series, our priority was to offer improved specification while maintaining everything which was great about its predecessor and that’s exactly what we did. The design is still extremely compact which is unique for a full-page print solution. What’s also great is our existing customers can actually upgrade the printer while keeping their existing accessories which are still compatible with the new series.

“Our main objective is to enable the mobile workforce to get on with the job at hand, whether they are emergency service workers, field service engineers or mobile sales teams. They can do this without the added burden of follow-up administrative tasks or errors relating to handwritten documentation. Like its predecessor, the PJ-800 series is a true mobile solution as no ink is required, meaning no refills or spillages whilst on the move.”

The PJ-800 series supports both charging and data transfer via USB Type-C, as well as a variety of printer command languages, including ZPL2 emulation.
All accessories for the previous line-up are also compatible with the PJ-800 series, such as the battery.

Brother PJ-822
This direct thermal printer offers a print resolution of 203dpi and a print speed of 13.5ppm. It has 256MB memory and can print on A4, A5, letter, legal and on continuous media. Maximum print width is 203,2mm – maximum print length is 279,4mm. It features a control panel with 3 LEDs and 2 buttons and is connected via USB 2.0. The PJ-822 can be powered by Li-ion battery, AC Adapter or DC Vehicle Adapter – these units are to be bought separately.

Brother PJ-823
This printer has the same features as PJ-822 but comes with a higher print resolution of 300dpi.

Brother PJ-862
This printer has the same features as PJ-822, and it also offers Bluetooth connectivity and MFi-support. It has 4 LEDs with 3 buttons.

Brother PJ-863
This printer offers the same as PJ-862, but with a higher print resolution of 300dpi.

Brother PJ-883
Has the same features as PJ-863 as well as Wi-Fi, AirPrint /MopriaTM and Wireless Direct.
