Brother’s mono laser series drives sales surge

Improvements to the durability, reliability and productivity of Brother’s latest mono laser series have driven a healthy increase in sales, helping to establish the print and technology specialist as one of the key A4 providers in the high end laser category for Western Europe.

Brother’s current mono laser series was made available to customers in March last year, bringing a raft of market-leading improvements over the range it replaced.

Between February 2016 and March 2017 unit sales of Brother’s high-end category mono laser machines in Western Europe significantly increased by 55% year-on-year. This enabled Brother to grow its mono laser market share in the A4 +30ppm laser printer segment.*

The latest mono laser series was designed to be robust and reliable, with a number of practical features and enterprise-level solutions, in response to customers becoming increasingly cost conscious while embracing digital and smart technology.

As well as achieving sales success, the mono laser series received praise from Buyers Laboratory (BLI). BLI's director of office equipment product analysis Marlene Orr said: “Brother’s new monochrome printers and MFPs are built with the business user in mind, providing outstanding reliability, high-quality output, affordability and an intuitive design that boosts worker productivity.”

The range’s “simple affordable sharing of content and collaboration in the cloud with Brother Web Connect” was also noted by BLI.

This positive industry reception was reaffirmed when the mono laser series was named as BLI’s 2017 Monochrome Printer/MFP Line of the Year. The range was also highly recommended and awarded a certificate of reliability by BLI in January 2017.

The mono laser line-up is tailored to workgroups that print up to 10,000 pages per month and is Brother’s first mono range with 520 sheet standard trays, a 2,650 sheet maximum paper input and a 1,050 sheet maximum paper output. This equates to a 150% increase in standard input and 600% increase in standard output over the previous generation.

Other performance improvements include doubling of machine life and a 60% increase in Automatic Document Feed capacity. The range can print up to 50 pages per minute, with first page output in just 7.5 seconds. In addition, models in the series can use Brother’s ultra-high yield toner cartridges, which produce up to 20,000 pages, a 66% increase in maximum toner yield.

The mono laser range offers business-level capabilities with a low total cost of ownership for higher print volume environments. NFC is featured on all models to improve document security and user authentication for pull printing without the need to invest in separate and expensive card readers. This also supports mobile and cloud-based printing.

The introduction of the Brother Solutions Interface on the series enables third party developers to build custom and integrated solutions. Additionally, custom interfaces can be created by the user to provide new capabilities that help improve operational workflow and security, while cutting costs.
