Four Brother printers win coveted design awards

The jury of the Japanese "Good Design Award 2014" evaluates not only the appearance of the products, but also the ease of use, environmental soundness and the ability to lead the way with new ideas. Over the years, Brother has received 185 of the so-called 'G Mark Awards'.

Not only Brother's many users in the business world, the public sector and in private homes appreciate the company's printers, all-in-one machines, scanners, labelling machines, fax machines and sewing machines.

Also professional designers have become increasingly aware of Brother's products, which are characterized by good price/quality, ease of use and the most environment-friendly designs.

Recently, four of Brother's printers received the coveted "G Awards 2014" from the Japanese Good Design Award organisation.

The Japanese design award enjoys a high international reputation as it is not only awarded because of the products appearance.

Equally important for the jury is the products being easy to use and taking the environment and recycling into account in the construction. Furthermore, it is advantageous if the products contain new ideas that could be for the benefit of communities and users in the future, too.

Recently, four of the new Brother printers and all-in-one machines that are sold on the Danish market, received "G Awards 2014". These models include the

Brother MFC-J5320DW Business Colour Inkjet all-in-one machine and the HL-L2340DW, HL-L2360DW and HL-L2365DW mono laser printers.

Good design sells better

Brother won its first G Award back in 1960 for a sewing machine for home use. Since then, Brother has received 185 awards.

"The design awards mean a lot to us because people in Denmark and the Nordic countries consider both price and good design when they decide to purchase a new product. We can tell that design awards have an impact on our sales," explains Nordic Marketing Manager Henning Elkjaer Brother Nordic A/S.

"For us at Brother, it is also important that the design awards focus on the products' eco-friendliness, quality and ease of use. These are things that we are very focused on. Most parts of the Brother machine can be recycled, and we have an effective return system for empty toners and drums through our 117 Environmental Partners across the country," says Henning Elkjaer,

The Japanese G Award is far from the only design award which Brother's products have won. In the Brother mangement area, there are also numerous European iF awards and nominations.

Thus, earlier this year, Brother's TD-2000 family of labelling machines received an iF Gold Award. Back then, the jury called labelling machines "very iconic and great looking."
